This outstanding Fixed blade knife from CIVIVI has all the qualities we want in a knife that’s strapped to our side. The steel is tough D2 steel with a blood groove, the handle is a strong, textured G-10 for great grip, there’s a finger notch for user safety, and the full tang design gives you the strength you can depend on. What makes this knife particularly special is the modestly modified spear point.
This blade can slice and dice and chop as well as anything out there.

The first and most recognizable part of this design is the D2 tanto blade. It’s big, it’s broad, and it’s flat ground for toughness. The action is very pleasing as the size of the blade, the detent, and the caged ceramic bearings make it buttery smooth using the studs or flipper tab. This tab acts as a finger guard preventing you from accidentally sliding forward onto the blade when using. The ergonomic handle has a solid feel provided by the stainless steel liners and we don’t think it gets any more comfortable than this. Add in a reversible deep carry pocket clip and backspacer with lanyard slot built-in and you have a tactical knife built for anyone. Finally, it’s priced for everyone and each variant might just be cooler than the last.

All tools are strong and durable thanks to their stainless steel construction that boasts a hardness rating scale of 43 to 45.
When in need of a cutting tool, the slide-out blade, four-position, stainless steel blade comes in handy. It is a 58-60 HRC-rated 9Cr18MoV knife with a flat grind and a plain finish that will do well in the cutting and slicing department. Plus, three extra blades are ready on standby as replacements.

The Orthrus is named after a monstrous two-headed guard dog from Greek mythology, and that name could not be more fitting. The Orthrus fixed blade from CIVIVI is a two-headed monster of its own, built to be the ultimate covert tactical knife. One side of the irregular blade has a plain edge with two cutting edges like a tanto blade, while the other side has partial serrations for cutting fibers like a rope. The Orthrus can be wielded just as effectively with a forward grip as it can be used as a karambit with a reverse grip. A finger ring prevents you from losing a grip on this and doubles as a glass breaker. Great for a number of outdoor tasks!

For this design, CIVIVI not only changed up the lock type but also went with Sandvik 14C28N stainless steel for the blade and lengthened the design about an inch overall. This makes for a completely different knife, in the same footprint that we all know and love, but this one is just downright better. The Sandvik blade will take a razor-sharp edge and provides excellent stainless properties making this a great outdoorsman’s knife. The pocket clip is now reversible for left-handed users, however, the button lock still favors righties. The lanyard post is now hidden on the backspacer – which is an excellent design choice, and the only thing that might make it better is a flipper tab. The Button Lock Elementum is ready for all-day use, tactical scenarios, and the outdoors while remaining one of the best, most capable knives at this price point.
