Have you ever wanted a rescue-style knife that didn’t look like it belonged on an operator’s hip? Enter the Crit from CIVIVI Knives, an ingenious take on a multi-functional blade. On one side, you have a traditional front flipping drop point blade with a lot of belly for slicing. On the other, you have a Hex bit slotted screwdriver/bottle opener/strap cutter that may just save your life in a pinch. While this may sound like a gross overstatement, having a safe and effective cutter for clothing, seat belts, mesh, netting, all sorts of stuff will come in handy way more than you think. The wire pocket clip is reversible but always located on the safety cutter side for quick reference in a pinch. We love the sleek look in the closed position with both blades cleanly folded away, this is an excellent looking and excellent performing piece right here.

The muted handle is comfortable to carry and highly effective in multiple grip styles. It’s paired with a wide, deep bellied clip point blade that can perform a multitude of tasks with ease. A devastatingly sharp tip on this guy and it’s right in line with the centre of the knife for maximum effectiveness. The flipping action is as you’d expect from WE and CIVIVI, on par with the best out there. There really isn’t a task we see the Relic not excelling at, it’s got the size and strength of a tactical blade while it carries like a backpacker’s tool. A future classic.

This Maciej Torbe design has a solid structural foundation that begins with its full tang sheep’s foot blade made of 9CR18MoV stainless steel with a brushed satin finish. The high flat grind makes for a durable edge while the reinforced tip still comes to an acute point. The handle design allows for great leverage with each cut and you can really bear down on this knife when you need to. It can flex into both tactical and survival roles equally well, the only thing it’s missing is a non-reflective finish. Other than that, the Kepler is a fine choice for your next knife purchase no matter where your path may take you.
